Driveway Extension Cost in Belton, TX (2026 Guide)

Widened concrete driveway with room for an extra vehicle at a home in Belton, Texas

Belton families outgrow their driveways fast. A teenager gets a truck, a boat shows up, or you're just tired of parking on the grass every time company comes over. Extending the driveway you already have is usually the fastest, most affordable fix — as long as it's done right.

What a Belton driveway extension costs

Small jobs cost a little more per square foot than big ones, because forming, the concrete truck, and setup are a bigger share of the total. We'll always price it honestly either way.

What drives the price up or down

Dirt work. Grass and topsoil have to come out and a compacted base goes in. Sloped lots and soft spots take more prep.

Thickness and rebar. 4" with #3 rebar is our minimum for cars. If a truck, trailer, or boat will park there, we go 5" with #4 rebar.

Tie-in to the existing slab. The connection between old and new concrete is the most important detail on the job (more on that below).

Access. If a concrete truck can't get close, we may need to pump, which adds cost.

Finish. Broom finish is standard and holds up great in Texas heat.

The tie-in: where cheap extensions fail

Your existing driveway and the new section will move a little differently as Belton's clay soil swells and shrinks. If they're just poured up against each other with no plan, you get a crack, a lip, or a section that settles lower than the other.

We drill and dowel into the existing slab where it makes sense, then set the joint so the two pieces can move without tearing each other apart. We also match the finish as closely as possible so it looks like it was always there.

The Belton soil factor

Much of Belton sits on expansive clay that shrinks in our hot, dry summers and swells when the rain comes back. That's why base prep matters more here than almost anything else. Skipping it might save a few hundred dollars up front, but it's the number one reason extensions crack, sink, or pull away from the original driveway within a few years.

We set the thickness, rebar, and base prep after we walk your lot, and it all goes in writing on your estimate.

Do you need a permit in Belton?

Work that ties into the street or the public right-of-way (like widening a driveway approach at the curb) generally requires a permit through the City of Belton's Public Works Permit Center. An extension that stays entirely on your property may follow different rules. We'll tell you which one your project falls under before we pour.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a driveway extension cost in Belton, TX?
Most Belton driveway extensions run $8–$14 per square foot installed. A typical 10' x 20' side widening lands around $1,600–$2,800 depending on dirt work, thickness, and the tie-in to your existing driveway.
Will the new concrete match my old driveway?
We match the finish as closely as possible. Brand-new concrete is always a little lighter at first, and the color evens out as it weathers over the first several months.
Do I need a permit to widen my driveway in Belton?
Work that ties into the street or public right-of-way generally requires a City of Belton permit. We help you confirm before we pour.
How long does a driveway extension take?
Most extensions are prep one day, pour the next. You can walk on it in a day or two and drive on it in about 7 days.
Can you extend a cracked driveway?
We pour new concrete rather than patching old slabs. If part of your existing driveway has failed, we can remove and replace that section as part of the project.
